J. Gryphon Shafer
Founder, President, Guru-in-Chief
Gryphon is a serial entrepreneur and multi-decade veteran of the information technology industry. In 2007, Gryphon founded Golden Guru with a core group of elite software engineers. Before forming Golden Guru, he worked for companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, Whitepages, AT&T, Discovery Channel, and Classmates, leading and managing some of the brightest and most gifted technology teams and departments around, developing and maintaining some of the most performance-intensive services on the web.
Gryphon studied theatre, film, and business at Seattle Pacific University. He holds a Master of Arts in Theology (MCT), and a Master of Arts in Counseling (MSC), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Gryphon is a lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity and a resident member of the Rainier Club in Seattle. When not leading Golden Guru, Gryphon enjoys movies (and running his movie theater), chess, bicycling, predicting the financial markets, aviation, writing, teaching, and studying the art of making great coffee.
